Crucial for your future growth. In the current competitive world getting a job is not so easy. Once a job is obtained sustaining and growing in the role is more significant. Concentrating on the below factors in a new job would help you to tread cautiously and maturely towards progress.

Dress Code :
When you get into a job straight from the college you should be cautious about the dress code. While in college casual wear is preferred but in an office environment the care you take about appearance from top to bottom makes a lot of difference. Your appearance should convey a dignified look. Gaudy attire is a strict no no.

Treating seniors :
With information technology revolutionizing the corporate ambience the relations between employees have undergone a change from being a completely formal to flexible or casual. In the olden days hierarchy is quite visible in the way a senior is addressed. However this strict formal addressing has become optional with employees addressing their seniors with names. But this change is not applicable to all organizations. You should observe carefully the ambience in the company and act accordingly.

Time Management :
“Being on time” and meeting deadlines in the early days will help you to develop a positive impression not only in your bosses mind but also among his fellow colleagues. To reach on time you have to plan properly. Calculate the time that would take to reach office keeping in view the traffic in your way and plan to reach before 10 minutes before office time.

Bosses play a crucial role in one’s career progress. You have to be friendly and respectful with your superiors. Whenever you need guidance knock your boss’s cabin. You should not only know what to do but also what not to do. Take your reporting bosses feedback once you complete your task.

Guide your Boss :
It is not necessary that your boss would be omniscient. They may not be upgrading themselves with the developments in the industry. They may not be technology freaks. But that should not be misused. Highlighting their shortcomings would be detrimental to your career. Try to equip them with the latest happenings in the industry so that they would be interested to learn new things. Ultimately it is teamwork whether it is with your down line or your superiors.

Share responsibilities :
If you are done with your task, share your teammate’s responsibilities which would enable the team to reach its targets in time. Your initiative would be appreciated and recognized.

Be alive:
Keep yourself updated with the happenings in the outside world. Being completely committed to your work and disconnected is not sufficient. Read the developments happening through journals and magazines.
